Scouting For Girls
"Lighthearted Indie pop."
Scouting for Girls were formed in late 2005 by Roy Stride (Lead Vocals/Keyboards), Greg Churchouse (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and Peter Ellard (Percussion/Vocals). Their music encompasses a lighthearted pop style reflecting on childhood innocence and experiences. The name Scouting for Girls is a play on words on the renowned Scouting for Boys handbook, first published in 1908 for the Scouts, which provides boys instructions on good citizenship.Since 2005 the band has built-up a large internet based audience through their MySpace website together with regular chart success on the IntoMusic and Pulse Rated unsigned band websites. They have also played various London venues, including the The Dublin Castle (Camden), the Shepherd's Bush Empire, The Borderline (Charing Cross Road), The Water Rats (King's Cross) and Turnmill's (Farringdon). Not only have they performed at these popular venues, but they have also been fortunate to record a live session for BBC Radio One, a special session for Dermot O'Leary on BBC Radio Two, frequently feature on London's Xfm with DJ Marsha and they've recorded material for Gcap Media who own Capital 95.8, Classic FM, Choice FM, Core, Planet Rock, Xfm Network and other regional radio stations throughout the United Kingdom. On the 14 February 2007, Scouting for Girls were signed to Epic UK (a division of Sony BMG) and they have recently been recording material for an album, due to be released in September 2007 with their first EP single, "It's Not About You", being released on the 25 June 2007The band's single "It's Not About You" was named single of the week (May 21st-28th 2007) on Scott Mills' Radio 1 show and played every day. They also had previous Radio 1 plays on "In New Music We Trust" before they signed to Epic Records.

Barfly, London - 29th May
Fantastic gig - longest set Roy, Pete and Greg have so far played - about 45 minutes. Impressively professional and smooth delivery, highly accomplished musicianship, and a charming ability to joke w the audience meant that the entirely packed out room loved them. They MUST be seen live, it's an exercise in pure toe tapping, head bouncing musical exuberance. I can pretty much guarantee you'll wake up the next morning humming one of their tunes.
