SUBDIVINE
"Strong melodies, catchy rhythms, lyrics with a strong message.Influences: Nirvana, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Bush..."
Subdivine formed in London in 2003, when singer/songwriter Justus de Jager and guitarist Paolo Kralj met in Shoreditch through mutual friends and bonded over a shared love of energetic, melodic rock (influences from Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Muse, Coldplay, Alice in chains) which has shaped their sound and drawn comparison to Bush, Feeder, Nirvana, and Silverchair among others.Their first demo was recorded in a home studio in Shoreditch and mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Simon Poole and drew critical acclaim from XFM who heard the demo live at London’s Cargo, and hailed it as “More perfect than any perfect demo”. With this praise ringing in their ears Subdivine received an invitation from Rough Trade Records to play at 93 Feet East at a showcase event highlighting the UK’s best five unsigned bands. Live appearances followed across London at Infinity, The Garage, The Pleasure Unit, the Bull and Gate and the Rock Garden sparking interest from ’Total Rock’ show and a live interview on the show. Since then Subdivine’s songs 'Cyanide' and 'Believer' have drawn critical acclaim from all over the world including many favorable reviews from www.garagebands.com.Subdivine was then recognised by Kerrang Radio who subsequently playlisted Cyanide. These reviews saw Subdivine rocket to the top of Yahoo’s Launch radio charts and receive airplay by South Africa’s NBC Radio who interviewed the band live after continuous requests from fans from the station’s listeners. Now the UK is going to hear more of Subdivine: their new song ‘Stay with me’ is featured on The Band Agency’s ‘Best of British’ unsigned compilation CD. With the momentum still building, Subdivine have knuckled down and written enough material to cover several albums, and more UK gigs and up and coming festivals are planned.Recently drummer Joe Rodriguez and bassist Dave Pugh joined Subdivine bringing fresh energies to support the band. Since then Subdivine has been invited to play the prestigious music industry event Manchester In The City 2005 and won Battle of the Bands in London.Rock Sound Magazine was quick to follow with another impressive review. With new tracks 'Perilous Temptations of Comfort' and 'Bleed' recorded, the future can only hold outstanding opportunities for Subdivine.

Subdivine live at the Barfly - KBY Rocks
"... Londoners Subdivine impress with their quality songmanship. It's fairly easy to pick out key influences - think Silverchair, Smashing Pumpkins and early Feeder - but the four piece possess a definite slow-burning appeal, marking them out as ones to watch. " Mike Kemp, ROCK SOUND, June 2006 Issue 85, page 112

"... The band (Subdivine) were doing a fantastic show, very raw and energetic as well as catchy tunes which aren't heavy metal nor pop.... The guitarist switched beautifully between his guitar and the keys... They finished with their famous song Cyanide, which left me with a excited after taste of energy and long lasting impression. Well done Subdivine." O-F, as Green Drummers www.wildblanket.com
“You’ve got to listen to Subdivine! ...
...Their vocalist’s quality song writing and the lead guitarist’s inspired instrumental guitar riffs, backed by the enthusiastic rhythmic bass and highly energetic drum performance is truly empowering to their audience! Subdivine is addictive!” Ben Warden- CANTERBURY UNIVERSITY RADIO
Subdivine - 'Perilous Temptations of Comfort' Review
"Winner!! This song really does rock from the get go! The guitars are swift and the bass too. Great riffs! The vocals I like a lot. The sound of Subdivine is really hip and new. Probably where more rockers coming out of their screaming phases will learn how to sing by listening to this kind of song. It really sounds new. Like a more specific kind of rock. I really have to say, the riffage is great and the drums are perfect. Live and cranked up that solo would just blow me out of my shoes! I love that bass. Really cool vocals, great guitars, a complete solid song. good job. Yes!! GARAGE BANDS.COM
