STAIRWAY
"An in-your-face onslaught of British Heavy Metal, combining the genius of Iron Maiden with the art rock of Magnum and master riffs of Black Sabbath; powerful, thought provoking lyrics and masterful melodic choruses."
STAIRWAY is Graeme Leslie (Vocals & Guitar), Pete Jennens (Guitar), Rob Jennens (Bass) and Andy Edwards (Drums). Their Debut CD, 'No Rest:No Mercy', produced by Paul Hodson (Hard Rain, Bob Catley), was released on Edge Records in 1993 and hailed Stairway's International popularity. The album was released in Japan later that same year, and debuted at 48 in the Japanese Import Charts. The band continued to work live, and after completing contractual obligations with their former label, Stairway independently released their 2nd CD, 'Bleeding Heart' in July 1999. During 2002 Stairway's 3rd album 'On Hallowed Ground ' was released to great reviews and media feedback, as well as incredible support from fans world wide. Following up on this success, Stairway signed a Licensing deal with American Label Retroactive Records in 2005 to re-release the 'No Rest: No Mercy' album as a Limited Edition and is now available on the market. Gigs to follow this up took place in 2005, followed by an incredible gig appearance in October '05 at Metalfest Germany Co-headlining with Rob Rock (USA) and Narnia (Sweden). In 2005/06 the band began recording their new and 4th CD - 'The Other Side of Midnight', a disc of pure Classic Heavy Metal which is now available on general release in the UK, USA and Europe; with the album's debut Chart entry at 2 in the USA's National College Chart, two Nominations for Best Album and Best Group in the NMW Awards in Hollywood USA, and a slot supporting Blaze Bayley at Rock of Ages Fest 07 this may well be the time that puts STAIRWAY on the musical map for real!

best industry quotes

  1. …..For those metal fans who respect themselves and are always searching the underground scene for lost diamonds, have found a band to rely on. Bands like Stairway are true to their beliefs and don’t fool their fans like so many other bands do. Heavy metal is not a trend... it’s an idea, a way of living, and Stairway seems to know that very well!!! Grande Rock Magazine Greece
  2. There's nothing I admire more than a band who does what they feel like doing, continuing to push & hone their craft & basically not giving a toss what the masses think or say. This band might be England's best kept metal secret & they're way too good for that. Chaos Realm USA
  3. Every once in a while you need an album like this – the kind of record that joyfully ignores all the current trends and just rocks on in exactly the way it wishes to….if kids had this on their iPods rather than the typical wayward bullshit, then they’d probably smile every now and again.
