Perfect Machine
"“You’ve got to listen to Perfect Machine! Their vocalist’s quality song writing and the lead guitarist’s inspired instrumental guitar riffs, backed by the enthusiastic rhythmic bass and highly energetic drum performance is truly empowering to their audience! Perfect Machine is addictive!” Ben Warden- CANTERBURY UNIVERSITY RADIO "
Perfect Machine formed in 2003 in Shoreditch, London. The original line-up (formerly called Subdivine) featuring current singer/songwriter Justus de Jager had a desire to express a love of energetic, melodic rock, with influences ranging from Muse, Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead to Bush, Nirvana and Feeder. The band's first demo was recorded at a home studio in Shoreditch and mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Simon Poole. It drew critical acclaim from XFM Radio, who heard the CD at London’s Cargo and hailed it as “More perfect than any perfect demo.” With this praise ringing in their ears, Perfect Machine received an invitation from Rough Trade Records to play at 93 Feet East at a showcase event highlighting the UK’s five best unsigned bands. Live appearances followed across London with Subdivine regularly headlining at The Garage, The Barfly, Turnmills and The Purple Turtle, among others. Total Rock Radio offered Perfect Machine a live interview and the band's songs Cyanide and Believer drew critical acclaim from all over the world, including many favourable reviews from the American Rock website Garagebands.com. Perfect Machine was then recognized by Kerrang! Radio, who subsequently play-listed Cyanide. More reviews saw Perfect Machine rise to the top of Yahoo’s Launch Radio Charts and receive airplay by South West Africa’s NBC Radio who interviewed the band live, following continuous requests from the station’s listeners. Perfect Machine’s stirring song Stay with me was featured on The Band Agency’s ‘Best of British Unsigned Compilation’ CD. In the Summer of 2005 drummer Joe Rodriguez and bass player Dave Pugh joined the band and brought fresh energies and wealth of live experience to compliment the group's captivating stage presence and dynamics. Perfect Machine’s popular and influential track Cyanide reached No1 on the Imgifted Chart. This achievement lead to the quartet being chosen to play the prestigious Manchester In The City Festival, which brought them striking press coverage from Play Music Magazine. Perfect Machine’s next accomplishment was to walk away as winners of a major Battle of the Bands competition in London. This inspired an invitation from Fierce Panda Records to headline Turmills. Recently the foursome left yet another long-lasting impression on audiences at both The Borderline and The University of London (ULU). In the autumn of 2006 Jon Sprake joined Perfect Machine as the new lead guitarist/keyboard player. Jon brings a superbly schooled rock background to the band and the line up has never been stronger. With momentum still building, Perfect Machine has created enough material to cover several albums. More UK gigs, tours and upcoming festivals are planned.

best industry quotes

  1. “Having stirred an impressive buzz on the national circuit, Perfect Machine are arriving in Manchester with praise from Virtual Festivals.com… Perfect Machine bring a more melodic tone to the party, but to call them a melodic rock band would be to do them a great disservice. There are real and highly original songs within the Perfect Machine arsenal and the whole band shows the kind of stage presence that smoulders with and intensity born from a genuine belief in the power of their music”

Perfect Machine Review - Tourdates A&R Night – The Borderline London
When you can use the phrase ‘Formerly Known As’ and this lot were previously SubDivine, as a means to confidently bring your existing and enthusiastic fan-base with you to another phase of your career, you know that you are in the game. No less enthusiasm exudes from their hard grafting and well connected management team, and rightly so. This band have certainly got something. With a powerful and muscular, yet thoughtfully crafted, sound, but neither Hard-Rock or Sub-Metal they have a space of their own and a momentum most bands would die for. Given that two members had recently joined they were masterfully tight and a new band image will surely evolve.
