Meshuggah come from a long line of Swedish metal bands to emerge out of the Scandinavian country during the late 80s, but they feature a far more experimental side to their music. Over their six albums, they have fused death metal, thrash metal and prog metal to make them unique amongst their scene. Formed in 1987 and still touring today, Meshuggah came to international prominence in 1995 with the release of their album 'Destroy, Erase, Improve'. They have since gone on to be praised by Alternative Press as the most important band in metal, underlining their influence today.
