Kate Nash @ Glastonbury 2008
Kate Nash opened this years festival to a record crowd on the Pyramid Stage. Performing a good mix of songs from her debut album 'Made Of Bricks' and new tracks, she achieved the first Glastonbury sing-along with 'Foundations'. Playing a piano that appeared to be nestled in a massive clam shell she also provided the festivals first instance of loony scenery, including a showcase of her 'twirly skirt' which threatened to overshadow her talent.
Overall the experience was underwhelming, perhaps a consequence of the scale of stage and less than perfect audio quality. However, the Queens Head gig later that day was a better setting for her sound and the intimacy of a smaller venue was far more fitting. This folksy songstress is challenging the traditional view of pop and has created a unique formula, although you do find yourself questioning whether or not you can take another five minutes of the same style.
