Real Rock Honesty
These guys are immense and should be playing in the big arenas pretty soon. Their Album is due on the shelves (of which I am blessed to have a copy) and I have to admire the fact that what you hear on the Album is what you get Live. Brilliant album which contains tracks akin to many sub genres of Rock. If you have an opportunity to see them and the venue is not to your liking, just go and get in there anyway to recieve an auditory neurone shot.

England has definitely been surprising in the best way in the field of musical talented bands as Pure Reason Revolution and their unique musical universe have already proved it thanks to their first and awesome album: "The Dark Third". So, here comes another sensation from England with The Gentlemen Of Distorted Sound and their fantastic Rock / Glam music that sounds like the 70's mixed with a touch of Funk. The G.o.D.s have just released a high in energy, intense album offering assets like the powerful Gareth Nugent on vocals, "Mako" on guitar, Lawrence Santi on bass and Russell Gilbrook on drums: these four men really kick ass ! Since the departure of Russell the new drummer is of the same high level which is great. It a treat to listen to the 10 songs of "Black AM", especially the hits that are "Chromatosed Nation", "Black AM", "The Gods" but it's honestly the whole album that offers the same assets of dynamism, emotions and pleasure. Even the ghost track at the end of the disc is worth it. The G.o.D.s for sure know what groove and musical inspiration mean, so, don't miss to find out by yourself how talented that band is!! http://iskaphotos.canalblog.com/archives/reviews_in_english___/index.html
Metal Storm (Music Web-magazine)
The Gentlemen Of Distorted Sound, that we will simply call GODS, is a new band from England. Between Stoner and Alternative Rock, this band could become one of the revelations of the year 2007. Their sound is cool, their music is good and "Black AM" their first album is a really nice piece of music so, if you want to listen to some nice Rock songs, you should quickly have a look on this release, I'm sure that you'll like it, even if you're more into Metal than Rock in general. For a first album, "Black AM" is a nice surprise and it's cool to see that the band already have a really good musical maturity. Between Stoner and Alternative Rock, the music of GODS is pleasant and I clearly believe that it will be something for the ones who like Rock a la Red Hot like Stoner a la Spiritual Beggars or Monster Magnet. Because on a side yes, "Black AM" is a bit like a mix between classic heavy and loud Stoner Rock and Alternative Rock a la Red Hot Chili Pepper. As an example a song like "Beautiful Face Of Evil" with its funky rhythm clean guitars and really melodic vocals will remind you the music of the Californians. On the other hand, a song like "Electric" is heavier and has this crunchy guitar overdrive sound that you can find in general in the music of the Stoner combos. As you can see, it's varied and believe me, it's never boring. With a cool cover designed by the fantastic British fantasy painter Roger Dean with a fine recording and finally with a cool Digipack this CD is a beautiful thing. Really, you don't have to be a prue fan of Rock or Stoner to enjoy this album, if you simply like good guitars and nice vocals with catchy rhythms and nice melodies, I'm ready to be that you'll like this release. Without being revolutionary, "Black Am" is a great first album and if the band found the way to do a good promotion of this release, we should hear a lot of good things about them soon. Remember this name, The Gentlemen Of Distorted Sound, because you can be sure that you'll hear some words about them soon. Their first album is a good piece of music and this is a promising debut album so be sure that you'll try to listen to "Black AM". If you like Rock N Roll, that's for you! http://www.metalstorm.ee/pub/review.php?review_id=4075
From Tour Dates (Deano)
You will Love them, you will Hate them, you will cry on the inside and smile on the outside as their no compromise no shame wedge of Riffed Sleaze Rock slices through you. The singer can sing, the Axe man can axe (in a ‘that boy can really play’ epic stylie) and the sturdy Rhythm section make thunder, while the image of the band play fast-and-loose with all of your known Rock’ n’ Roll reference points and entangle you in wallow of delightful clichés. Having missed their set completely at our last G.O.D.S outing (see: http://www.tourdates.co.uk/blogs/default.aspx :comment) it was a sheer pleasure to introduce our resident Egyptian Playboy Film Making Music Publishing Artist Managing Guru to The Gentlemen of Distorted Sound at the luscious Café de Paris. Sound of body mind, and sprit in hand, he fair loved the band. Versed in the cynical ways of the music business and as one who understands the current commercial crop of Limp Rock Artists (am talking here of the James Blunt / Morrison crowd or any of the other Jimmies who learnt to play acoustic guitar and can convince the music execs that their latest insipid love croon needs flogging to an army of Pre Pubescent Girls, Current House Wives and Post Mid Life Crisis Balding Bladdering Blokes). And yet he still loved this band. A welcome change, an unbridled celebration of guilty pleasures, or maybe just an honest and inspired display of the kind of music that has been inspiring mosh pits, hairy festival goers and not to mention Record Company CD sales since it was invented back in the Louisiana swamps in the 1950s. The word is out Rock is the new Pop and … The Gentlemen of Distorted Sound know it baby. Nope am not off to get my black pointy boots out of storage but I am never happier to be ‘out’. I love dirty music with a throaty riff and a filthy crowd. If you are this kind too and not ashamed to show it then go see the G.O.D.S. As we said before tell us whether you think they are the next Darkness or the first Light?
Antithetik.free.fr (French Webmag translation)
You loved el caco, recently reviewed in these pages? Well then you'll probably love the G.O.D.S ( these english jokers...). In effect these "divine" british neighbours play a stoner rock very close to the Vikings mentioned above, if only because of the singing(equally close to whitfield crane, remember ugly kid joe), so close that the G.O.D.S are a bit more rock'n'roll than metal, even punk for "Fire in the Hole". Their attitude is pretty rock'n'roll too, if we are to beleive their YouTube videos. The artwork will possibly stir some old memories among among some of you...it's the work of Roger Dean, the originator most notably of the Yes logo and Album cover artwork. Getting back to the music, the G.O.D.S are sure to satisfy metalheads need for good hard riffs and songs that are simple, effective and precipitate headbanging. The number "Black A.M." has more varied dynamics, due to a brief passage of acoustic guitar and a very beautiful melody. "The GODS", nice work for a debut album.
Kaosguards (French Webzine http://www.kaosguards.com/)
These Londoners, 'The gentlemen of distorted sound', jump cheerfully into the breach of a field already gleaned by every type of stoner rock band. Note that their initials are no accident, spelling G.O.D.S clever little fellows!.... word is that the press lapped up their joyfully riotous demeanour at the MIDEM music trade fair in Cannes, 2007. Some rock, some don't. Their sound is a savvy mix of Spiritual Beggars (music) and QOTSA(vox). Countdown to blast off for brits in space, the time is now for their debut opus to explode onto a wider public. this feeling has a soundrack and it's name is The Gentlemen Of Distoted Sound.(in like fairytales some bands have risked all together, with more or less success but here without doubt we have hope for the future. Riffs Gorged with groove, heavy and imposing, underpinned by soaring vocals. get to know these heirs to QOTSA, finally a band to give the brits world class credibility in this genre.
G.O.D.S @ the Marquee
The first I heard of G.O.D.S were when they added their profile to tourdates. Having listed to the tracks on their profile and being the inqusitive sort, I then found a couple of their videos on a popular video portal (which will not be mentioned here). I was impressed, these guys really look and sound the part, I eagerly waited to see them at the Marquee. Wow, they really put on a show, an audacious performance with good old fashioned rock n roll attitude coupled with audience participation, truly entertaining. On reflection though, I wonder, although sunglasses are cool, should you wear them whilst performing in a dark rock club and subsequently lose your footing on the edge of the stage, and, at an A&R night do we want to hear covers? (although American Woman was a bloody good cover) I think I shall have to go see them again to decide :-) In the meantime, sunglass, discuss. Sgt Snafu over & out
