The group started with jangly guitar, hand claps, and a harmony amp in a storage room atop a Californian restaurant. For the first practices, Cold War Kids thought that having instruments was not as important as heavy stomping and chanting. The Band still toured up and down the west coast, recorded their first demo and toured again. In September last year, Cold War kids had a few tracks on their myspace, including ‘Sermons vs. the Gospel’ and in October LA Times mentioned them as on of the seven bands to watch of 2006.In November, as they were supposed to record 6 songs, they realized they had way too much material and decided to record 6 more. The 2 EPs, ‘Up in Rags’ and ‘With our wallet’s full’ are separate releases but fit together in artwork and concept. According to the band, you can have them separately but one without the other would basically be like tearing apart two young brothers at a foster home.Debut album ‘Hospital Beds’ out soon.
