Preview ‘Blues Bar Blues’ October 2003 Malcolm Glindon
Gather round people. I have something to say. I can’t lie to y’all. I’m gonna cleanse my soul. I haven’t seen Chris Scott for many years. Yeah, it’s true. Forgive me for I have sinned. I wandered unknowing and then I saw the light (well the – Wot’s On @ The Beehive email actually). I’ve been given a second chance blues people and so I need to spread the word. Armed with just a guitar he travels the country playin’ the blues.
Just listen to one of his CD’s and you can hear the man has the voice of a sinner. You know what I mean. Yeah, deep and gravely just like the late great John Lee Hooker. And it never sounds more sinful than when he rips into (and I mean rip) classics like ‘This Is Hip’ and ‘Crawlin’ King Snake’.
Now I ain’t no preacher but I’m gonna suggest we gather at The Beehive and listen to what the man has to play. I can’t promise you a miracle but I can promise you some damn fine blues.
So people, are you with me?
Let me hear a – Hell Yeah!
My work is done.
