Alex Sheppard is a 20 year old singer songwriter, who has been spinning her tales of drunken Cinderellas, snowman love affairs and early morning stumbles through London since her first gig when she was 15. She has drawn comparisons with the likes of Regina Spektor and Jamie T but if you compare her to Kate Nash you are clearly a fool. Originally from Norwich, where she was a finalist in the 'Next Big Thing' competition, (previous winners include The Pistolas and Le Tetsuo) she has been praised by NME as an 'antifolk wonder' and Zane Lowe for her 'great lyrics.'
She recently spent a year busking around Europe and sharing a stage with a ladyboy cabaret act in Thailand, before relocating to London to study philosophy where she was a finalist in the Takamine/Ovation singer songwriter showcase, and featured on the Huw Stevens show, as well as the much revered BBC Radio Norfolk. She has also played the support for a Dirty Pretty Things DJ set where she harrassed Carl Barat into listening to a song which he declared 'amazing' and performed a capella on the Latitude poetry stage to much acclaim.
She has recorded 4 CDs, 'The Little Red Riding Hood E.P' (2004) 'Fairy Lights and Lairy Nights' (2005) 'The Blonde E.P' (2006) and most recently 2008's 'The Magician's Assistant.' After spending the summer slumming it in Norwich she has recently returned to London to concentrate on music and wants to hear from anyone who likes what she does.
